Don't Go to Med School; Go to Technician School

Because the pharmaceutical industry is probably the fastest growing sector of the healthcare network, let's use pharmacy technician school graduates as an example. A person who graduates from a pharmacy technician school essentially assists a primary pharmacist in administering prescriptions, drugs, and medications. They interpret instructions from physicians (or pharmaceutical companies) and ensure that patients do not receive drugs or dosages that might be harmful.

So Why Are Technician School Graduates Poised for Explosive Growth?

It's simply a matter of supply and demand. People are living longer. Our medical knowledge is constantly growing. Baby boomers are on the brink of retiring. Elective surgery is on the rise. These different factors will create tremendous demand for more medical services in the future. But unfortunately, the healthcare infrastructure is not adequately equipped to handle such training. As a result, doctors, nurses, orderlies, surgeons, and yes, pharmacy technician school graduates will all become hot commodities.

Is Pharmacy Technician School the Only Route to Fame and Fortune?

Perhaps your passion is more in veterinary sciences. Maybe you see yourself on the research side of things. Or perhaps your bedside manner would make you an excellent nurse. The point is, becoming a doctor is not the only way to help people. And becoming a doctor is not the only way to earn a lucrative salary in health care. Currently, pharmacy technicians make about $14 an hour. But this salary figure could very well double, triple, or quadruple as the industry continues its rapid growth.
